The Nature College has also embarked on a programme of issuing merit categories to its learners where they qualify for such categories.  It has become clear from our experience with placement of learners in industry that the critical factor in occupational success is matching people with jobs.  Good training forms the foundation of guiding skills, but what makes a person successful in a particular position is the person's personality, temperament, people skills, communication skills and presentability.

In order to enable prospective employers to select the best equipped guides, the Nature College is now implementing its Categories of Merit:

Green Category: This category recognises the fact that the candidate is environmentally sensitive and responsible, and fully qualified at the entry level.

  • The candidate has complied with the minimum requirements, and has been fully trained by The Nature College
  • The candidate complies with our set criteria for interpersonal skills and presentability.
